Laguna Gloria at the Austin Museum of Art
Saturday June 26th, 2004
7:00pm
Summary: We chose Laguna Gloria as the wedding site because it is "uniquely Austin". Laguna Gloria is part of the Austin Museum of Art and is located right on Lake Austin in the hill country. The property consists of twelve acres of beautiful parkland and a Mediterranean-style villa which was built by Clara Driscoll in the early 1900s. Clara, often called "the savior of the Alamo," became a Texas legend when she purchased the Alamo to save it from destruction. The Driscoll villa and surrounding formal gardens have just recently been restored and renewed. The ceremony will be held at the shaded outdoor amphitheater next to the lake, while the reception will be held both inside the villa and outside among the formal gardens. The property also has wooded nature trails, lighted at night, to provide for a romantic evening stroll along the lake.
